Legal Aid honored at Stark DV Collaborative meeting

Group recognized for domestic violence work, 20 years of partnership

Community Legal Aid was honored on Thursday for its work serving victims of domestic violence.

Executive Director Steven McGarrity accepted the award, given by the Stark County Domestic Violence Collaborative at their partners meeting. The award commemorates 20 years of partnership between the organizations.

Legal Aid was a founding member of the Collaborative when it began in 1997.

“We were honored to be recognized,” McGarrity shared. “This group does such important work in the Stark community. We’re happy to be a part of it.”

Others recognized included Magistrate Lynn Baumoel, who formerly worked as a domestic violence attorney for Legal Aid and served as a representative for the Collaborative.

In addition to the award from the Collaborative, Legal Aid also received special recognition from Congressmen Tim Ryan, Jim Renacci, and Bob Gibbs.
